Why Does War Happen & How We Can Heal
Apr 13, 2026
As the world continues to witness escalating violence across the Middle East with growing tensions between Iran, Israel, and other nations, and increasing reports of civilian suffering, it can feel overwhelming trying to make sense of it all.
Beyond the political narratives and media coverage, there is a deeper layer to what is unfolding, one that speaks to human behaviour and the patterns that repeat across generations.
In recent months, reports have emerged describing intensifying warfare and also the internal suppression of civilians, including allegations of mass killings and widespread human rights violations. The scale of this suffering raises an important question:
What is actually driving humanity to repeat these cycles, again and again?
Why Humanity Repeats Cycles of War and Violence
The reason for a repetitive pattern of war and violence is the fact that many people and even whole cultures are conditioned to be at war within themselves. They are taught to be divided inside; this is good, this is bad. This is higher, this is lower. Be like this. Don’t be like that. Conform like this and control yourself around X natural impulse. Be subservient. One gender is stronger and one weaker. One colour of skin is superior and one colour is inferior.
All of these conditionings drive people towards a schizophrenic state of being. And eventually what has been repressed erupts into anger and violence or conversely into addiction to alcohol or drugs to suppress the misery. When enough people are divided within, there is a tipping point, leading to outer war.
The Psychological Roots of Violence in the Human Brain

In the brain we have various evolutionary aspects:
- the reptile brain
- the animal brain
- the human brain
It has been found by psychologists that many murders which are committed are not done from the human brain but have happened because the person slipped down into the reptile brain and were literally ‘no more human’ as they committed the atrocious act of killing another person.
If a society glorifies violence through media, films, books, video games and other forms of mass hypnosis, this will basically indoctrinate citizens towards being more in tune with the reptile brain than they are with the human brain.
As violence becomes ‘normalised’ while empathy, love, sacred sexuality, bonding and intimacy are shunted aside as being unimportant or even to be shunned, this drives the society towards identifications with the ‘cold blooded’ reptile brain. It then appears ‘logical’ to go into war.
In this respect it is important to understand that a child’s brain before the age of 7 is malleable. Whatever the child brain is subjected to in regards to media is taken in as ‘real’ by the child brain. Consider in this respect how much violence a child is subjected to through media before age 7 in our popular culture. They are basically being conditioned to accept violence and killing as ‘normal.’ On the other hand, sacred sexuality is considered ‘shameful’ and sex in general is kept very secretive.
Karma and the Repetition of Violence Across Generations

Karma basically means, “You receive back from existence what you have given out to existence.” If historically a certain culture has been violent and conquering towards others, they will eventually be conquered. If a certain culture has abused it’s own citizens and enslaved them this same culture will be abused and enslaved. The same happens with individuals. If you have been abusive you will be abused. If you have been loving you will be loved. This law of existence spans generations and lifetimes.
When Governments Turn Against Their Own People
If a government commits acts of violence towards its own people it is similar to a person shooting themselves in the foot. They are crippling themselves and basically self-destructing as a nation. It is a sign that this culture is on the brink of death by suicide.
The Responsibility of Humanity in Times of Crisis
We are all connected in the web of life. What happens in one place of the web, affects everyone and everything. As a human collective we need to stand for truth, empathy, healing and love. In the same way as one removes a cancerous growth in the body, a despot who has become destructive to their own citizens needs to be removed. Such a person needs to be sent for deep psychological and psychotherapeutic healing. They are psychologically ill and not in a fit state to be the leader of a country.
What Individuals Can Do to Shift Collective Consciousness
You may be amazed, but the Ho Oponopono Hawaiian shamanic technique is very effective for bringing positive transformation to the collective consciousness of humanity. Holding mass meditative gatherings and chanting the Ho Oponopono method is a very positive direction. The mantra for this meditation is:
‘I love you
I’m sorry
Please forgive me
Thank you’
Staying Conscious Without Becoming Overwhelmed
It is important to remember that all human beings are suggestive for hypnosis. We are also empathic. This means it is very easy to manipulate human beings, a fact which big business, the medical mafia, the war machine, governments and fanatic religions have all profited from and continue to profit from. We are all part of a morphic field and when suggestions are dropped into this field we may easily get programmed by this. In order to step away from programming we don’t actually wish to be a part of, we have to:
- Stop subjecting ourselves to it
- Create our own smaller Morphic field which is being programmed according to the laws of love, empathy, kindness and compassion.
Gradually the smaller Morphic field will gain strength and resilience. Always remember, the positive always has more power than the negative. So just two hundred enlightened beings can change the direction of humanity from destruction to preservation, love and empathy.
Transforming Anger, Fear, and Hatred into Awareness
Behind hatred and anger is spontaneity. Behind fear is trust. It is necessary to release anger and fear through conscious emotional release techniques and to embrace spontaneity and trust through celebratory ways of being and as a general way of life in our communities.
The Role of Meditation in Ending Human Conflict

Meditation is the master key to heal the human collective. By training ourselves to apply a witnessing consciousness to any life experience we will be able to find the divine hidden within this experience. Meditation should be taught to everyone from a young age. This is similar to helping a young tree grow straight and tall. You will help the young person to grow and evolve with an open central channel leading to expanded states of consciousness and inner ecstasy. A person who is aligned to inner ecstasy and meditation will not see any sense in gravitating towards war and destruction.
A Final Message: Choosing Life Over Fear
The war machine thrives on seriousness, fear and anger. When you become angry and fearful you are feeding this war machine, giving it more fuel to exist. To counterbalance this, it is essential people move more towards celebrations of life. This may happen through carnival, going into music and dance on the streets, inviting everyone to love life, to enjoy live music with life positive lyrics, (not AI music) to dance to abandon, to laugh and honour joy in multitudes of ways.
It is important to not use drugs and alcohol during these expressions of joy and dance. Because drugs and alcohol will numb you. Be in your full consciousness and have the courage to dance. Honour and celebrate life together with others. This is a ‘Yes To Life’ movement. Powers that be have turned humanity into a ‘no to life species.’
We are not meant to be this way. Life is to be honoured, celebrated and honoured in deepest gratitude. Establishments who propagate war and agony are completely helpless in the face of mass expressions of joy. This is because they thrive on suffering. They make lots of money from war. Just go into the exact opposite way of being and these establishments will implode on themselves.
“The people in the world are in immense need of a few articulate, positive, assertive individuals. Not only their words will be helpful, but their presence – because their words can only be supported by their presence, by their actions, by their responses. There is no other kind of evidence. If people see that you are really living peace, that your life is a song of silence and each of your actions shows it, we can change the whole negative and sick psychology of man.
Otherwise these negative people have been predominant all through history – because it is very easy to be negative, anybody can do it. The most advanced nation, most powerful, most scientifically, technologically advanced, is going through the darkest period in the whole of human history.
...A new dawn for the whole human race, a new innocence, a new childhood, a new satya yuga – the age of truth – a new golden age is possible. But the positive people have to take the bold step of expressing themselves. They have not been doing that for the whole of history. They have enjoyed their experience, and they have thought their work was finished.
I want you to remember always: when you have something to share, don’t stop there; share it. Humanity is in need, as it has never been in need, of people who can create new hope for a New Dawn."
(Osho, The New Dawn, Ch 14)
