Apply NowDiscover the Spiritual Heart of Kailash
Rising majestically at 6,638 meters, Mount Kailash is more than a mountain — it is a sacred symbol of divine consciousness. For thousands of years, seekers from across faiths have journeyed here to touch something beyond the known — to reconnect with the eternal within.
Join us for a 14-day Sacred Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrimage, a journey designed to awaken your spirit and guide you toward deeper inner connection.
This pilgrimage invites you to walk in the footsteps of saints, yogis, and mystics from Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon traditions. Our carefully curated itinerary through the overland route via Kerung makes this journey more comfortable and affordable, while still maintaining its authenticity and spiritual depth. With extra acclimatization days, gentle walks, and mindful pacing, this experience welcomes both seasoned travelers and first-time pilgrims.
Sacred Temples of Nepal —
The Journey Begins in Kathmandu
Our pilgrimage begins in the spiritual heart of Nepal, where ancient temples still radiate timeless devotion and energy.
We start at the revered Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva, the compassionate protector and eternal presence of Mount Kailash. The sacred Bagmati River flows beside the temple, carrying the prayers of countless seekers through ages.
According to several sources, within the precinct of Pashupatinath, along the banks of the Bagmati River, there are two caves traditionally known as the Tilopa Cave and the Naropa Cave. These caves are believed to be ancient meditation sites where Tilopa taught Naropa, and where Naropa received direct Tantric transmissions. Their presence connects this sacred area not only to Hindu devotion but also to the profound Tantric lineage of Mahasiddhas, uniting the paths of Shiva and Shakti, Awareness and Energy.
We then visit the powerful Jogeshwari Devi Temple, dedicated to the fierce and nurturing aspect of the Divine Mother — Shakti, the dynamic energy of creation. Her shrine reminds us that the journey to Kailash is also a journey into balance — the union of Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine forces within.
The final temple, Jal Narayan (Budhanilkantha), features a magnificent reclining statue of Lord Vishnu resting upon the cosmic serpent in tranquil waters. This serene image radiates calm and surrender, symbolizing rest within movement — a reminder of the stillness that lies at the heart of our pilgrimage.
Visiting these three sacred temples before entering Tibet prepares us inwardly for the greater journey ahead — grounding us in devotion, purifying intention, and aligning our energy with the sacred current that flows toward Mount Kailash — the abode of Shiva and the cradle of Tantra.
🕉️The Sacred Geography
Our journey begins in Kathmandu, leading to the mystical lands of western Tibet, home to the awe-inspiring Mount Kailash — the eternal abode of Lord Shiva, the Adi Yogi.
In the Hindu tradition, Kailash represents Shiva’s cosmic home — the axis of the universe. Its four faces correspond to Shiva’s four aspects, aligned with the cardinal directions. Circumambulating this sacred mountain — known as the Kailash Kora — is an act of deep purification and liberation from karmic patterns.
For Buddhists, Mount Kailash is the domain of Demchok (Chakrasamvara) and is linked with Padmasambhava’s enlightenment energy. For Bon practitioners, it is the spiritual center of their ancient homeland, Shang Shung. While Buddhists and Hindus walk clockwise around the mountain, Bon pilgrims walk counterclockwise — yet all share one purpose: to awaken the spirit and dissolve the ego in devotion.
Nearby lies the serene Lake Mansarovar (4,600 m), believed to have arisen from the mind of Brahma. Its crystalline waters reflect the union of Shiva and Parvati — the dance of masculine and feminine, consciousness and creation. Bathing in or simply meditating near this lake is said to wash away lifetimes of karma and awaken deep inner clarity.
Where the Pilgrimage Becomes Awakening
The Kailash Kora is not just a 52 km walk — it is an inner revolution. Every step around this sacred mountain becomes a prayer, a breath of surrender, a step closer to freedom.
Pilgrims often describe this journey as an experience of:
- Shedding old karmic weight
- Awakening deep inner awareness
- Feeling divinely blessed and reborn
To walk around Kailash is not merely to circle a mountain — it is to circle the center of your own being. In its silence, the Himalayas whisper ancient truths; in its stillness, the seeker meets their soul.
🔱 The Tantric Significance of Kailash Kora
For Tantra practitioners and Osho sannyasins, Mount Kailash is not just a destination — it is the heart of the Tantric world. Revered as the home of Lord Shiva, the first yogi and source of the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, Kailash radiates the very energy from which Tantra was born.
Walking the Kora here is like moving through a living mandala of awareness — each step a meditation, each breath a merging of the inner and outer worlds. The journey purifies the body, mind, and energy, dissolving barriers and opening doorways to silence.
This pilgrimage perfectly embodies his vision of meditation in motion — surrendering to the rhythm of nature, embracing stillness through activity, and awakening through direct experience. To walk around Kailash is to enter the field of Shiva’s consciousness where opposites dissolve, and where awareness itself becomes your teacher.
